Jacey Chronicles: Chocolate Milk
We just returned from a week long vacation, Russ, Jacey, and I. It was the first far away trip we've taken just the three of us. It was tough because we missed our family and there were so many things we did that this person or that person would have LOVED. Grammy (Joyce) would have LOVED chocolate world, Joseph and Jonson would have LOVED the new and interesting rides, Lillie would have LOVED the zoo visit, etc. etc. etc. Still, we had a great time despite Jacey missing his people and asking for Nano every day.
We started off the trip with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall as well as ate some yummy (albeit, not the best ever) Philly cheesesteaks at Pat's King of Steak. The next day, we did the Philly Zoo and even got to ride camels there! We stopped by the Reading Terminal Market for dinner and got Russ's picture in Rocky's footsteps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The next day, we did Sesame Place, which is a MUST DO for toddlers everywhere. We were stoked to eat lunch with Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie and the rest of the gang. Jacey was a little scared of Cookie but excited to hug Elmo and the others.
We did the Amish Buggy tour in Lancaster County and finally made it to Hershey. The minute we stepped into Hershey Chocolate World (which is an amazingly glorified gift shop, complete with character meetings, a ride, and more things to tantalize the senses than you could possibly imagine), it was as if they took away my laid-back, usually calm child and replaced him with TURBO BABY. The poor thing almost went into hysterics when he saw Mr. Milk Dud. Jacey was frantically running from one thing to the next telling us to look look at this and look look at that. After 2 hours of shopping, Russ and I were exhausted and Jacey was crying not to leave and pulling us back in the door. This too is a MUST DO for toddlers. The next day (and our last day before our flight), we went to Hershey Park. I kid you not, there were literally dozens of rides that are designed just for under age 7-8! It was a mecca of kiddie rides and Jacey was in hog heaven. Practically no lines, Jacey was able to hop onto one after another, riding almost two dozen rides by the end of the day!
After all the chocolate and chocolate related rides, music, treats, and gear, Jacey woke up the day we were leaving and told me, "Want chocolate boo, momma." That's Jacey speak for, I want your boobs to make chocolate milk! Ya think my kid has been Hershey branded?!?
