Baby Chronicles: Unfashionably Late

Yesterday was doctor appointment day and the news was not at all what we had hoped for. I am now eight days past my due date though so they wanted to do a sonogram. The fat little turkey was sitting pretty, nice and comfortable in there with no sign of coming anytime soon. I have not dilated any further since last week (when I was 1.5 cm) and my effacement is the same at 65%.

They measured his amniotic fluid and it's on the "lowish" side. The doc said that generally, accepted levels are between 5 and 25 with the normal average at about 15. Jacey has an amniotic number of 6. The doc says it's nothing to worry about as long as he's moving and growing normally (which he is). But, his low numbers caused them to do another non-stress test on us. They basically hook you up to all these monitors and measure any contractions and his heart beat over a period of about an hour.

Anyway, I am scheduled for an induction at 7am on Saturday so one way or another, he'll be here by then, if not before. I'm almost certain, at this point, that the little rat will have to be literally smoked out. I do not think he'll come on his own... he's way too fat and happy in there. Their best guess on his weight is 7.5 pounds. I feel like he must weigh at least double that!
