Austin Ice Storm 2007

Well, the Johnson's haven't been in Texas in almost 2 years so you'd think we could have offered them hospitable weather for their visit last week. They came down to scope out various things for the upcoming move. Of course, we got what the news media happily called Ice Storm 2007 and the whole damn town shut down, ruining all of our planned activities.

For 3-4 days last week, the news told of the dire conditions on the road. Everyone seemed to be terrified of the cold! Stores shut down. People stocked up on groceries (yes, seriously, the grocery shelves were bare of some things). We drove all 4 days without problems. In fact, I only found 2 patches of icey street anywhere. However, there weren't many places to drive to since everything was closed. Good grief!

Still, we had a great visit with the fam and it worked out that we got to spend a lot more time together than we would have had the weather been nice. Don't give up on us, Johnson's! Austin rarely gets this kind of weather madness!
