Kipper the Kangaroo

Ok, if you are getting tired of blogs about kangaroos imagine how we feel! No one will ever accuse my child of lacking passion for her hobbies! I joke about being tired of kangaroos but I will never grow tired of her enthusiasm at every new kangaroo item she obtains. And as you can see....she has amassed QUITE a collection!

Here is an inventory:
1 backpack
3 t-shirts
1 mask
1 one of a kind costume
1 custom frame and card set
7 books
9 stuffed 'roos
2 DVDs
1 necklace
2 plastic figurines
I think this mask is creepy but she LOVES it so here it is...

This afternoon Lillie reminded me that I STILL have not made her a "mama joey" costume. I have been talking about making one since before her birthday in March and I have had the supplies and the plan all along. I just decided to put it all together tonight since she asked and I felt guilty for not following through. It only took an hour and a half since I followed the KISS method of costuming. I cut ears, a tail and a baby joey doll out of a terrycloth swim cover-up and added them to another cover-up that already had a pouch built in. She immediately ran to look at herself in the mirror and doesn't seem too disturbed by the fact that the baby joey doll doesn't have eyes yet. She named her baby joey "Kipper" after a book she got for her birthday and insisted I take a picture and make matching necklaces for Kipper and for herself.

Here is a demonstration of how "dark pink" kangaroos behave in the wild. Notice that she wipes her nose...that is on purpose! She saw youtube clip where the kangaroo did that right before she hopped away and now it has become part of her hopping routine!
Lillie received a ton of kangaroo stuff at her birthday party including the aforementioned Kipper book and a gorgeous custom made frame and card from the very talented Jennifer Moore. She also received a very special present from her Daddy via her Grandma and Grandpa. Mary was able to dig up a plush kangaroo Lee had as a child and she gave it to Lillie after the party. All in all I would say everyone is embracing kangaroo mania! Here she is on her "mountain stage." Next time you see Lillie ask her to sing this song for you:
which is WAY cuter than the original version:
