Creatures of the Night
Well, October was a whirlwind of activity, as always.
Jonson rang in his 9th birthday October 15. We took the boys and Jonson's friend Trenton to Seaworld's Halloscream event where there were ghouls and goblins galore. Every year, Jonson talks dad and I into taking him to a haunted house, and every year, Jonson chickens out half way through and we have to find an emergency exit. The boy is growing up though, as evidenced by our making it through the entire haunted house. I will have to say that he and I had a bet going so that may have had something to do with it! Here's a pic of Dad with Pumpkin Man at Hallowscream, Seaworld.

Joseph had a nice little carnival at his school (Children's Courtyard) and all the kiddos looked so cute in their outfits. I think I saw more than one Snow White and Captain Jack! Of course, the boys have quite the imagination and they requisitioned their Aunt Nan to make elaborate suits for them. Not a single other child had the same costume!
For Jonson's actual birthday party, we rented out the birthday nook at the local ice skating rink. Many of the kids had never been ice skating so Jonson was skating circles around them. He's had 3 years of ice skating camp under his belt. Joseph was far more impressed with running about chasing after Trenton's little sister than he was with skating. Still, Lee and Russ got on the ice with the kids, thank goodness!
Earlier in the month, we had all gone to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out our carving pumpkins. Everybody chose their patterns and carved up their pumpkins. Here's a shot of Joseph with his stuffed bear "Spikey", his lovey "Wuddy", "Ba", and the pumpkin gang.

On Halloween night, Nan drove up from San Antonio to grace us all with her amazing Miss Piggy impersonation.

She and Popi took the boys trick-or-treating and boy did they come home with a haul! Of course, our resident costume designer made the boys' costumes--Joseph was a Golden Godzilla and Jonson was his favorite Dragonballz character.

More later,
Jennika
